American Eskimo Dog
History
American Eskimo Spitz - a breed very famous, but with a
specific past. The specificity is that no one today will tell you where this
breed came from. One thing is for sure - dogs belong to the family of Spitz - A nordic group of breeds, which includes animals of different sizes. For example,
this is also Mysoyed, quite a large dog, and, in fact - Eskimo Spitz.
The breed gained wide popularity thanks to immigrants from
Germany and Austria, who came to America with these dogs. In the U.S., they
were to the taste not only of ordinary people but also of the owners of
circuses and various theaters of the 19th century. The appearance of these pets
and their ability to perform even complex commands, has made them the stars of
many circus programs. Subsequently, these dogs began to be called American
Spitz.
In 1917, the American Spitz was officially renamed and named
after the American Eskimo Spitz. By the way, as well as the origin of the
breed, the origin of the name with reference to the Eskimos also no one will
explain to you. The American Eskimo Spitz Dog Club was founded in 1985, and in
1995 the American Kennel Club recognized the breed in the non-Sporting group.

Description
The Breed of Eskimo Spitz is a small dog, with stunning wool
pure white, like snow, colors. The coat has a soft, heavy texture, which makes
the dog resembles a small polar bear. Ears are straight, pointed medium length,
but because of the abundance of wool visually they seem small. Paws are short,
the body is compact, muscular, the tail is curved, fluffy, the muzzle
elongated, reminiscent of the cast.
Personality
One of its main characteristics is the extraordinary intelligence of these little dogs, for which they have won the title of one of
the most intelligent breeds in the world. Your developing thoughts are related
to the depth of your personality and the ability to make independent judgments
and have your own views about circumstances.
Therefore, do not be surprised if your dog will try to
prevent a family quarrel, and will do it in an extremely nice and peace-loving
way. Which one - she will decide for herself. It's not for nothing that she has
her own opinion on everything.
The American Eskimo Dog also has a huge inner charm,
combined with the charm of the outside. Most people fall in love with them at
first sight, and those who do not fall in love at first, do it with a second
look. In any case, it is impossible to remain indifferent to this dog.
They can easily memorize complex commands, perfectly
understand the desires of the owner and the rules of behavior in the house,
however, in any case, do not try to behave aggressively or use unfair methods of
education. This you will only set the dog against itself, and break her psyche
so, and not reveal her personality completely.
Eskimo Spitz loves various games, needs intellectual and
physical activity, loves a walk, and the society of his loved ones. Despite their
internal independence, it is very kind, sympathetic, and affectionate dogs that
appreciate attention and give it doubly. It fits perfectly as a dog
companion.
Sometimes the Eskimo spitz is even too active, but not
destructive, but rather foolish and crave exuberant fun. Children are treated
well. By the way - these dogs are very talkative. They have a wide variety of
vocal variations with which they seek to express the full range of their rich
inner world.
Teaching
The ability to quickly understand the desires and words of
the owner combined with innate good-naturedness and gentleness make these dogs
almost ideal in terms of education. They just get results, and you can be
taught to perform not only basic commands but also more complex. The Eskimo
Spitz has a good memory, for example, can memorize and distinguish items that
should be brought. That is, he can remember what slippers and bags, and what is
the difference between them.
Since these are good-natured and intelligent animals, they
should also be treated like a good friend. Austerity is necessary only in some
everyday situations, but training is important permanence and perseverance,
with the promotion of dog success. After all, this breed and today show the
wonders of ingenuity in the circus.
Care
The American Eskimo Spitz has a voluminous coat, which must
be brushed at least once a week. You should bathe the dog once or twice a week,
if necessary, prune the claws, and make sure that the ears, and eyes of the
animal, were clean, removing the sediment.
Common Diseases
The breed of Eskimo Spitz belongs to the potentially
healthy, and does not suffer from any complex hereditary diseases, with a few exceptions,
namely:
- hip dysplasia;
- Legg-Calve-Perthes disease - also concerns the hip;
- progressive retinal atrophy;
- juvenile cataracts - concerns relatively young (up to six years) Eskimo Spitz. It is considered a hereditary disease.
·
But, these cases are all rare, and if the owner provides
good content and quality nutrition, he in 99% of cases can not worry about
visiting the veterinarian.
