101 Dalmatian Dog Breed
history
Perhaps it is difficult to imagine a person living in a
civilized world who would not know a dog of Dalmatian breed. The cartoon, and
later Walt Disney's "101 Dalmatian" films, made these animals known
everywhere. By the way, following the release of this touching story, the
popularity of the breed soared to the skies. Which is not surprising.
The exact origin of Dalmatian is unknown, but the first
evidence refers to... Roma. Yes, you did not hear - it was these stray people who used dogs in speeches and hunting. Actually, the name of the Dalmatian breed
belongs to the territory called Dalmatia, which corresponds to present
Croatia. Apparently, in this area dogs were very loved - they were used not
only by gypsies but literally all in a variety of areas (although they got to
Dalmatia, apparently, it was with stray gypsies). Dalmatians acted as shepherds,
rat-catchers, retrievers, and circus dogs.
But, so to speak, his final and most important place in the
life of Dalmatian received in England, thanks to the professionalism of
breeders. They developed dogs into a full breed, having developed certain
standards and determined the most effective use. Dalmatian cleared the way in
front of the horses, ran next to the carriage, and guarded the horses and crew
during the rest. Even today, the Dalmatian breed has a natural kinship with
horses.
Accordingly, Dalmatians were also used as service dogs to
escort ambulances and fire brigades, and in America, it was even more popular
than in England. It was the inner proximity to the horses, and the lack of fear
of them, that made the Dalmatians the most used dogs to accompany different
modes of transport. They also served as watchdogs at hospital emergency
stations and fire stations.

Are Dalmatian dogs aggressive?
What's wrong with Dalmatians?
To say that the Dalmatian breed has a high level of energy
means not to say anything. This is a born fidget, who is always happy to be the
soul of the company, and craves new adventures. Dalmatians are ready to spend
all their free time on the street, they will go with you to the end of the
world and it will be for them the best activity in life.
Why are Dalmations bad dogs?
If you don't have enough free time to provide the dog with
long and active walks, don't start this breed. Because if the animal does not
get the necessary level of activity and physical activity, it becomes unhappy, and sad, he loses his appetite and there is a tendency to gnaw at everything that
surrounds him. In this case - pieces of furniture in your apartment, shoes,
door shoes, etc.
Is a Dalmatian a good family dog?
Keep in mind that Dalmatians are as smart as they are active.
They can be cunning and stubborn. Therefore, everyone who starts this
breed should realize that he will need to carry out consistent educational
work. The goal is to make it clear to the dog that you see its tricks through
and, so to speak, "don't drive," and secondly - to develop obedience,
getting rid of stubbornness. And, at the same time, Dalmatian loves his masters
and his family, these are for him the first living beings in the universe, of
course, if the master is not an inadequate tyrant.
Therefore, the Dalmatian dog always tries to please the
owners and gets inner satisfaction from it. In the circle of his family, or
family friends, whom the dog knows and also loves, there is no living being
more affectionate, friendly, and devoted. These animals are always interesting -
they can entertain with their funny antics, and in general - they are very
alive, giving the impression of sentient beings who understand everything that
happens around them.
They require early socialization, acquaintance with
children, and other animals, they need to get into different situations and make
their character as flexible and open as possible. Then, you can be sure that the
dog will behave perfectly with the child, although, they are naturally endowed
with a very kind character and love children. Strangers are perceived without
aggression, either neutrally or positively.
If a person shows a negative attitude, the dog looks at the
reaction of the owner, though, Dalmatian does not like to come into conflict
with the person. But, at the same time, he is good as a watchdog, as it has high
vigilance and can bark loudly and profusely. However, consider - he loves
people and is not strong enough to attack and make a serious danger to an
adult, a big man.
teaching
First, the dog's stubbornness should be fought not by
aggression and shouting, but by consistency and patient repetition, in
addition, make the classes as active and diverse as possible. Then they will
like this breed, and the dog will gladly wait for the next class.
Secondly, do not forget that Dalmatians - are emotionally
sensitive and do not perceive rigid methods of learning. You could say that
such methods offend their best feelings. Therefore, it is necessary to be
extremely positive approach and abundant encouragement for the correct
performance of tasks and good behavior, including affection, praise, and, of
course - goodies. It is believed that Dalmatians remember abuse for life.
care
The breed of Dalmatian dogs has a short coat, but at the
same time sheds quite heavily. In normal times, the dog should be combed once a
week, during molting 2 times. Buy the animal at least once a week, the eyes
clean daily, ears - 3 times a week. The claws are trimmed three times a month.
In addition, you always need to make sure that your pet has
access to clean water, and the opportunity to go to the toilet. This is due to
the fact that Dalmatian has a completely unique urethra, and is not similar in
this respect to other dogs. Your pet's food should not be oversaturated with
proteins, and in general, the diet should be chosen responsibly. A long stay in
the cold is not recommended, make sure that the dog had a jumpsuit for the
winter.
Common diseases
Dalmatian is a breed of dog that has a penchant for a number
of diseases, including:
- hereditary deafness is inherited as a polygenic trait, and all Dalmatian bloodlines can transmit deafness to their descendants.
- Approximately 8% of Dalmatians are born completely deaf, and 22 to 24% - hear only in one ear. All puppies are born with "closed" ears. Ears should open between the ages of 12 and 16 days.
- Dalmatians have a constant deterioration in The Endy's organs, a group of nerve cells inside the curl that detect sound. Homemade hearing tests, such as knocking on the floor, and knocking pots, are unreliable because a deaf puppy can feel vibrations and often adapts perfectly. The only reliable scientific test is BAER (Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response). It is available in most large specialized veterinary clinics. The test can be done from the age of five weeks.
- Dalmatian has a unique urinary tract system that makes them susceptible to the formation of stones in the urinary tract (urinary stone disease).
- Dalmatian urine contains uric acid instead of urea or allantoin. The stones are formed from the salts of uric acid. Large stones will settle in the urethra; small stones, also called gravel, can pass with urine. If the urinary tract becomes completely blocked and the condition is not treated in a timely manner, it will be fatal.
- You can ask your veterinarian to regularly check your dogs' urine for urate crystals. There is a lot of research being done in this area, so new treatments are always being developed.
- Skin allergies;
- hip dysplasia - Dalmatians are more likely to have too much activity and neglect on the part of the owners when the dog is injured, for example, on a slippery floor, but can be inherited;
- iris sphincter dysplasia is a hereditary eye disease that can cause: sensitivity to bright light, poor night vision, partial or complete blindness, and cataracts.
- elbow dysplasia;
- hypothyroidism;
- von Willebrand's disease;
- homeopathy.
