Border Terrier Dog
history
Border hunting dog, or terrier, is the result of a purposeful struggle between farmers and foxes. it had been bred within the eighteenth century and had all the required qualities so as to effectively hunt these animals, which caused plenty of hassle to the inhabitants of the country.
It is not only about the internal qualities, but also about the external structure of the body - a fairly narrow torso allows the dog to squeeze into the burrows, thick skin and hard hair well protects against fox bites, and legs, a little longer than proportional (in relation to the body), allow pets to follow the horse.
In addition, it is hardy dogs that can hunt with their owner
all day long. At least, so it was in those days, although modern border
terriers have all the same qualities, although perhaps already to a slightly
lesser extent. After all, in the modern world foxes do not cause such trouble,
and the breed itself has long been more of a companion than a hunter.
One of the earliest testimonies is a 1754 painting by Arthur
Wentworth about two border terriers. In England, in some areas, these dogs were
highly valued, however, outside the country they were not known. However, it is
impossible to say that the breed was known widely and in his homeland. But the
Border Terrier participated in agricultural exhibitions in Northumberland in
the late 19th century, although in general dog breeders almost did not notice
it until the early 20th century.
In 1920 it was recognized by the English club of dog
breeders, then a club of the breed was created. Despite the fact that more than
250 years have passed since the creation of the breed, in fact, these dogs are
still little known and not very popular in the world. Most of them are known in
England and America, less - in Europe, and in the CIS they are, for the most
part, little known. However, this is a kind of protection for the purity of the
breed. The first Border Terrier, registered in the United States, was a male
named Netherbyers Ricky, in 1930.

personality
Border Terrier, it is, first of all, a very kind and
affectionate dog. Yes, you have not heard, despite the fact that it is a born
hunter who knows no mercy for his prey, with his people he is extremely kind,
and always ready to help the owner. Moreover, it does not matter what - even if
you are just in a bad mood, the dog and here will try to be close, just to make
you feel supported.
But, above all, it is a dog with an active and cheerful
temperament, who loves fun antics, and likes to explore the world around. She is
interested in everything - smells under the bushes, small animals, other dogs
and people, sounds, and new places. If you live in the private sector, your pet
will probably repeatedly try to escape in order to fully immerse yourself in
the exploration of the world around, you because it is so exciting.
If you live in a city apartment, and just walk your dog in
the park, you are also not immune from such antics. Of course, there is a need
for proper education and obedience training. In addition, it is a terrier,
which means that he likes to dig the ground, especially since this terrier was
specially designed to penetrate the apes' burrows.
Residents of private houses can say goodbye to their
pristine, perfect lawn, and the same ideal beds with tomatoes. On the other
hand, it is possible to fight with it - for example, to allocate a separate
place for a dog to dig burrows, although, success will not come immediately.
Border Terrier is very friendly - and there are almost no
exceptions. He is friendly with other dogs, he is friendly with your friends
and just with strangers on the street, he is just a good man by nature, the
only thing that can set him up in another way - is the performance of guard
functions.
But, you should understand that the dog most likely will not
violently attack the person who without demand entered the territory of your
private house. However, it is a very vigilant dog who has wonderful hearing
and always warns about the approach of strangers. For children it is a
wonderful friend and companion, he is very patient (although the boundaries are
still there), smart, and very fond of playing.
By the way, the Border Terrier has a tendency to chew and
nibble all around, starting with your shoes and ending with the legs of a
wooden table, because you need to teach him from an early age to chew toys. Has
a high level of energy, needs daily walks, exercises, and high activity for at least
half an hour, and better an hour. Cats get along normally if
you start at an early age. The private sector can catch rats and moles, and
do it mercilessly.
teaching
These dogs are not suitable for everyone, because of their
love for different activities, games, and in general - their cheerful character.
That is, if you live in the same apartment with this breed, you will not be
bored. However, many people love peace, and the border terrier will not suit.
This character also requires an appropriate approach to training.
That is, you cannot make training boring, long, and
monotonous. At the same time, it is necessary to be consistent and deal with
the dog clearly on schedule, while watching its reaction. Classes should be
active and diverse. These dogs are very smart and can learn a lot of commands, in
addition, they understand the signs - when, for example, you are going to go
outside, the dog knows about it by one hint. Avoid rudeness and aggression, use
encouragement, and do not forget about the goodies.
care
A breed of dog border terrier needs to comb the fur once a
week, in addition, you will need to remove dead hairs. The dog's eyes are
cleaned of sediment daily or as needed. Buy a dog at least once a week. The
claws are trimmed three times a month.
Common diseases
Border Terrier is a breed with strong health, but some
health problems can still meet:

- Violation of the bite;
- nerve attacks;

- cryptorchism.
