Dog breed bulldog - is a regular participant in cartoons,
movies, TV shows. These animals can be seen on a variety of promotional
materials, on the emblems of sports teams - thanks to their colorful appearance
and specific history, bulldogs are today one of the most recognizable dogs.
The first mention of this breed dates back to 1500 - in
those days and later, the Bulldogs were widely used in a bloody entertainment
called bull-baiting dogs. Now we think it's wild, but in those distant years,
and up to the 19th century, many thought that it makes bull meat more tender.
These unsubstantiated perceptions were extremely common, to
the point that there was even a law in some areas of the UK that obliged
butchers to poison bulldogs before slaughter. Based on the logic that this
supposedly "thins the blood" - complete heresy, of course. The truth
is that the Bulldogs extremely effectively fought with the bulls, grabbing them
by the neck and snacking on the artery.
At first, the bull fiercely resisted, but gradually the
forces left him. However, if the dog did not have time to dodge the mighty
horns, it was waiting for imminent death. Bulldogs poisoned not only bulls but
also large predators, such as bears, which were also very popular with
spectators. Here you need to stipulate that the bulldog of the 17th century,
and the bulldog of the 21st century - it's dogs different, both in size and
temperament.
This was made possible by the efforts of 19th-century
breeders who decided to remake the breed. Especially since the authorities
banned bloody entertainment. For this purpose, only obedient and docile
dogs were selected, with a minimum amount of aggression. The first dog show,
which was attended by an updated bulldog, took place in 1861. And in 1864,
enthusiasts created the first Bulldogs club in England.

Description
The modern breed of bulldog is small, squat, prone to fullness. The limbs are short, relief, the torso is large, muscular. The muzzle is flattened, with folds, ears triangular, small, hanging on the sides of the head.
Personality
Although the current Bulldogs are very different from those
of 300 years ago, they have retained their courage and pride. On the other
hand, today they have great friendliness, are very sociable and affectionate with
their family. These dogs love to make new friends, meet new people, and other
pets.
At first glance, it may seem that they are not very smart
when it comes to training, however, it is not quite so. Perhaps sometimes the
bulldog learns new knowledge and skills for a long time, but if he has already
learned them, it is forever. Sometimes this breed can be somewhat stubborn, but
if you take a closer look, it will seem that they do it as if not seriously.
So, as if they were doing it for a joke or to play a kind of game with you. If
you show a little patience and have a sufficient sense of humor, everything
will work out.
The English Bulldog has a loud enough voice, and may well be
a watchdog. Although its current size does not allow him to compete on par with
an adult, he will be able to raise the alarm for the whole district and will
certainly try to stop the intruder. The bulldog can be quite lazy and sometimes
it is even difficult to move during a walk. Although to be fair, this is most
often different for elderly dogs who are overweight.
This breed cannot be called very active, but sometimes the Bulldogs can be happy to play with you in some games, however, they do not like to run too far and too fast. First of all, they like the presence of a person - perhaps they will enjoy your society more than the process of the game. The bulldog dog has several negative features related to the structure of the skull - snoring and loud snot. They are also prone to flatulence.
Teaching
The bulldog dog is normally in the training process, and
usually, there are no problems with it. However, you will most likely have to
face innate laziness and stubbornness. There is no panacea or remedy for all
cases. Only patience, kindness, and a sense of humor will help you. And also,
of course, a tasty treat as a reward, as the Bulldogs love to eat.
Usually, these dogs are trained in basic commands, because the more commands they have learned, the more difficult it is for them to assimilate new ones. Moreover, the Bulldogs in general quite slowly fix the past material. In everyday life, it will hardly bother you. In the life of every dog, there is a period when the owner needs to clearly put himself in the role of leader. The Bulldog is no exception. Due to the natural friendliness and open nature, of these animals, you can always find common ground without resorting to emergency measures.
Care
The breed of bulldog dog has short hair and needs to be
combed once a week. Always watch the clean eyes and eyes of your pet, as well
as time to cut the claws - it does about 3 times a month. You need to bathe the
dog once or twice a week. Also, don't forget that the bulldog has a lot of
folds that need to be wiped from time to time with a wet napkin with a suitable
pH that does not dry the skin. So you will eliminate harmful bacteria and
prevent different irritations from developing.
Also, keep in mind that the English bulldog is very sensitive to overheating and cold - do not let the dog stay in the sun for a long time and overheat, and in winter for a walk put on a jumpsuit. Another problem is overeating and obesity. Keep an eye on your diet so that your pet does not turn into a nightstand.
Common Diseases
Bulldogs have an unusual skull structure, which makes them
prone to various respiratory diseases. In addition, some individuals may have
their nostrils jammed, and normal breathing may even require surgery. Also, the
non-standard shape of the head sometimes causes problems in childbirth, when
puppies have to be removed by cesarean section.
Here is a list of diseases (not counting the aforementioned
complications) to which this breed is prone:
- Cherry Eye;
- Dry eye;
- Entropion;
- Inverted or reverse sneezing;
- brachycephalic syndrome;
- shaking the head - nervous shaking of the head;
- demodicosis;
- Generalized demodicosis is a genetic disease;
