Border Collie
history
The sheepdog breed is one of the oldest in European countries. once man 1st set to use dogs to assist in
grazing and protection of eutherian mammals, these dogs were simply the
ancestors of the trendy sheepdog. In fact, they weren't terribly totally
different from this representative of the breed. Size has modified, maybe
trendy dogs have an additional advanced intelligence and a more robust
understanding of humans, but still, they maintain several characteristic
options of their additional ancient predecessors.
In those distant times, people relied heavily on their smart
and endlessly devoted dogs - they were trusted to protect the home, they spent
time with children, and of course, helped to guard and herd. It can be said
that the breed developed naturally, as the harsh conditions of the ancient world required the animal to have good endurance, courage, and obedience to its
owner.
These social dogs were thought of as extraordinarily
valuable, which isn't shocking. They were oversubscribed quite expensively, and
therefore the external characteristics may well be slightly totally different
looking on the region. Thus, separate species of the breed were shaped, which gave
the name of dependence on the realm from that they originated. above all, they
were Welsh Shepherds, Northern Shepherds, Mountain shepherd dogs, and Scottish
shepherd dogs.
The name of the breed collie comes from the Scottish
language, and therefore in other regions of England in ancient times they were
called sheepdogs. This breed existed for many centuries side by side with
people, and in 1860 was first shown at the dog exhibition. It was the second
dog show in the history of the country, and the Border Collie was marked there
with special attention, as is the original British breed.
A few years later, while on a trip around the country, queen
Victoria saw the dog border collie, and they caught her attention. She wanted
to have several such dogs and literally fell in love with them at first sight.
Since then, queen Victoria has become a fervent adherent of this breed. In
1876, Lloyd Price, another enthusiast of the breed, but not of royal origin,
brought 100 sheep to demonstrate the abilities of the border collie dogs,
setting up a whole performance.
The task was that dogs without any special commands could
control the flock of sheep directing it in the right direction. They did a
great job, and the teams sounded only the sound of whistles and waving hands.
After such a demonstration, the popularity of the breed rapidly went up, and
its fame began to spread rapidly beyond Britain. Despite such a long-standing
origin, the American Kennel Club recognized these dogs only in 1995.
