Boston Terrier Dog
history
Boston Terrier - a dog recognizable and very colorful, and
the origin story of these animals has no less flavor than their appearance.
There are several versions regarding the appearance of these pets, and now we
will tell about them.
The first is that a resident of Boston, a certain Robert S.
Hooper 1865 brought from England a dog, received from the crossing Bulldog and
an English terrier. He bought it, ostensibly because she reminded him of the
dog he had as a child. According to another version, the same Boston resident,
Robert S. Hooper, bought his dog from another Boston resident, named William
O'Brien, between 1865 and 1870. In both cases, the story fits together - the
dog's name was Judge, which means the judge.
There is another version, according to which American, or
rather, Boston coachmen in the early to mid-1800s specifically created this
breed thanks to the crossing of bulldogs and English white terrier, which is
now extinct. They did it in order to get a new breed to participate in
underground dogfights - it is unknown how true it is, but such a version is
available and many consider it reliable.
Be that as it may, there is one indisputable fact - the dog,
from which the breed breeds Boston Terrier, really called Judge. It is known
that he weighed about 11 kg, had a good physique and tiger color of wool, with
a white spot on the muzzle. Throughout its history, this breed was called in
different ways - Boston Bull Terrier, round-headed bull terrier, American
terrier, Boston bulldog.
The first club of these dogs was organized in 1889 - the
first members were 30 owners of Boston bull terriers. They called their club
"Round Heads." Subsequently, they changed their name to the Boston
Terriers Club and the breed was informally called "Boston Bulls" -
Boston Bulls. The American Kennel Club recognized these dogs in 1893.

Description
Are Boston Terriers good pets?
yes, the Boston Terrier is a small dog with square outlines, and
not only the body has square outlines, but also the head. Ears straight,
triangular, snout flattened, eyes skillful. Paws are short, physique though compact,
but muscular. The color can be different. If they hadn't invented a cartoon
about Bob's square Sponge, it could well have been a cartoon about a square
Boston terrier.
personality
Do Boston terriers bark a lot?
Can Boston terriers be left alone?
It is only necessary to look into the cute, kind eyes of
this animal, and all at once it becomes clear - they have a friendly and
affectionate disposition. However, it is not entirely clear what the Boston
coachmen of the mid-19th century intended to use these dogs for fights, given
their good-natured nature.
Boston Terriers are distinguished by poise, gentleness, and
great devotion to their owner and family members. Despite the equilibrium of
character, these are very playful dogs, and they are happy to spend time with
both humans and other animals, including Cats. However, it is better to
introduce cats from childhood, then you can be sure that in the future there
will be no problems.
You can say that they literally need to meet other people
and other dogs - it will help to broaden the horizons of your pet, to start a
new relationship. Various unforeseen situations, friendships and weasel, all
sorts of games, new sounds and smells - early socialization is one of the
prerequisites for successful development and disclosure of all internal qualities
of the dog. The Boston Terrier does not like to be alone for a long time, and
you need to avoid it.
The dog is perfect as a companion for a person of any age,
from small to large. Due to its balanced nature and high adaptability, as well
as due to its small size, it can be kept in any city apartment. Another plus is
short wool.
Boston Terrier is always the best friend of every child, and
his innate stubbornness is easy to overcome with the right approach. Strangers
are perceived normally, and if they are properly brought up with great
friendliness, especially if they see the location of the owner to the person.
These are quite smart dogs, they understand what is going on around them, and
therefore need appropriate games and communication.
teaching
What's bad about Boston terriers?
Despite the fact that there is an opinion that this dog was
bred for dog fights, now it is attributed to decorative breeds. This means that
complex teams do not need to be trained. But you definitely need to do behavior
correction, and while the dog is still at an early age. This is necessary for
the animal to clearly understand who is the owner, who, so to speak, is the
leader of the pack, and who should be listened to at all costs.
In short, you should work out obedience and teach your pet a
few simple commands. Do not try to over there the dog - this breed appreciates
the kindness, consistency, and poise of the owner, as it has these qualities.
You, as the leader of the pack, must be kind and patient, and if strict - then
on the case, and not because you got up from the wrong foot. Screams and
beatings are ruled out.
care
The Boston Terrier has a short coat that does not require
care. It is enough once a week to brush your pet. Always make sure that the
dog's ears and eyes are clean, as well as trim the claws in time. You need to
buy a pet at least once a week, but it is better more often.
Common diseases
In general, we can say that the Boston Terrier is a healthy
dog, but there are certain problems. Among them:
- hip dysplasia;
- elbow dysplasia;
- hypothermia;
- von Willebrand's disease;
- homeopathy;
- cataract;
- Cherry Eye;
- local dislocation of the kneecap is a common disease among dogs of small sizes;
- Noises in the heart;

- Allergies of different types
- megaesophagus - a defect of the esophagus, as a result of which the dog spewing is looking;

Some diseases can be detected due to a genetic test, so you
need to ask for the appropriate certificates from the breeder when
buying a puppy.
